Ahem. A couple of tries later, and I finally got something committed
that worked for Lars. Sorry about that.

Hopefully it should work on all the ARM powered devices. I'd be
especially interested to know if it makes a difference on those that
were having trouble with speed before (sadly, the only ARM devices I
have here (Wince ones) all seem to run at full speed anyway).

If this does make a difference for things like the NDS, is it worth
my putting this into the 0.11.1 release? Or does it count as 'new
functionality' or something that is unsuitable for the release
branch?
