Hi all (and Max in particular),

Concerning the tools, I had some time on my hand and did some work
today. Unfortunately (or maybe its fortunate that I found it) I
discovered a bug that means that audio options selected in the GUI
are not passed to the compression tools. This doesn't corrupt output
but it shows that the tool could need more testing. I committed a
patch for that bug, so hopefully it will be fixed in a 1.1.1 version.

I also have a working patch for the nice to get fixed bug #2905473
(GUI Tools: cannot use lame with compress_scumm_sou) but I would like
to iron out some small remaining issues before posting it on the
patch tracker (maybe tomorrow). I hope I will find some more time to
do more work on the tools. There is a number of things I would like
to improve in the GUI.

I am fine with the idea of releasing the tools now (without my
patches) but it is probably not a bad idea to tag the GUI as beta
(the CLI has had more testing I thing). Releasing them would
facilitate public testing. I can also take care of organising public
testing for the tools once the release has happened.

As for the release options, I am not voting (since I am not a dev in
this team) but if I could I would vote for the second option since it
has been made clear that waiting a few more days will not solve the
Nippon Safe issues. I am all for a bit of flexibility in the release
cycle, but I think it is good to impose a release every six months
(approximately). However I think it should be noted in the release
note, compatibility page and ReadMe that Nippon Safe is not stable in
this release.

Thierry
