Actually, according to the schedule, only the backends and translation areas
are in freeze now; the engines are open for updates until the 8th:

 Oct 2nd -- feature freeze for backends and translations
 Oct 8th -- tagging, release tarballs are uploaded
 Oct 15th -- release
