I have to put in a vote for dropping the PNG stuff from the engine if it is
that easy. By all means leave the checks in configure so it's there if
another engine wants it, but it seems daft to drag in additional
dependencies when there are core functions that can do the same job. The
less new libs that get pulled in, the better it is for the smaller platforms
;-).
