thanks, your emails  pretty much match my experience and thoughts. Willem sums up my stance pretty much perfectly with this:

Indeed. There are issues we have, esp. in usability (Yotam made a nice overview), and we definitely should address them.

So, let's try to do that! Let's work on our usability issues, instead of clinging to a cryptic window that may help cover them up for a few select users, but make it worse for others. 

I just see that Willem started a new thread on the "Launcher / wizard subject", so I'll do the same now regarding MD5 reporting... :)
