Very interesting discussion. Paritcularly Md5 and Max, for going into such
detail of the various pros and cons. Many of them that I hadn't personally
thought of. Particularly about the issues related to the core and backends,
such of unfinished engines having to be continually fixed to keep the the
entire project compiling.

For the issue of engine inclusion, at least, it seems like with the move to
Git, the management and eventual merging of engines will be easier, albeit
they won't have the advantage of buildbot until they are.
