Hi all,<br>
<br>
time for the (almost) weekly progress update, isn't it?<br>
<br>
Thanks to your contributions (yes, you!), the release schedule is
fully intact:<br>
<br>
July 08 (Friday): Hard-freeze of branch-2-6, allowing only
emergency bugfixes<br>
July 16 (Saturday): Final branch 2-6-0 created, <span
class="moz-txt-star"><span class="moz-txt-tag">*</span>release
tagged<span class="moz-txt-tag">*</span></span>, porters start
submitting builds<br>
August 01 (Monday): Public release<br>
<br>
First, a word to our translators. For this release cycle, I had the
idea of declaring a string freeze which would disallow any changes
to the translations. I thought it would make things easier when it
comes to merging any changes back.<br>
<br>
However, it turns out, I missed something quite important: String
changes for changes or features we <i>want</i> to have in the next
release. And honestly, it looks not very good if you want to check
out a crazy new feature just to find out that it's not even
localized - doesn't look very professional to me.<br>
<br>
So - let's discard that idea. Thankfully, criezy already switched
over our translation system to the next release branch. This means
that all changes you make <b>now</b> will still make it into
ScummVM 2.6.0. There will be <b>no string freeze.</b> I'll generate
the final set of translation datafiles shortly before creating the
final release branch, so you have plenty of time. Sorry for the
noise - now I know better :-)<br>
<br>
Since the last update, the number of bugs that are in scope for the
next release increased to <b>25.</b> While an increasing bug
counter might sound disappointing at first - well, there's no better
time to catch a bug <i>before</i> the next release :-)<br>
<br>
