Summary: qfg1 VGA graphics palette crash

Initial Comment:
Game crashes during color transitions, for example when sleeping in the Inn in the Town during the early night or when sleeping at Erana's Place.
I am using ScummVM 1.4 on a Win7 32-bit and Quest for Glory 1 VGA.
The crash occurs at different resolution scalers, windowed and fullscreen mode, with or without aspect correction.
I also tried both the unaltered version of the game and one with NewRisingSun's Timing Fixes in place, the crash always occurs and is reproducable on my rig.
I played through the exact same game before with an older version of ScummVM on the same PC, so my guess is the bug was only introduced lately.
