function, it looks to me as if it's simply trying to
fade in the picture, albeit in a slightly peculiar way.

At the very least, it's missing a call to
_system->update_screen(), and I don't understand why it
compares *src to i and not to *dst.

This patch is what I came up with while experimenting
with it, but I've never seen what the original looks
like, and it could probably use some further tweaking
anyway.
