 I think it might be specific to the German version but I can't check if
 it's specific to the GOG release (probably not); I own the original German
 CD but it's not with me right now.

 I also checked the English GOG version and it seemed fine, although I
 admit that had this not been reported I might not even have noticed it in
 the German version so it's possible the skips also happen with the English
 GOG version, but I doubt it.
