[Scummvm-devel] Split compatibility list ?

Hi folks,

IMHO we should consider splitting the compatibility list into two. Or
at the very least, make it clear beyond doubts on compatibility.php
that it does *not* apply to the latest release, but rather to the
latest development snapshot.

Right now, people will get to the ScummVM homepage and look at the
compatibility page. They'll see, for example, "oh wow, BASS is at 80%,
let's try it." They'll go on and download 0.4.1, only to discover
(maybe after lots of trial and error) that it doesn't support BASS at
all. And I couldn't even think bad of them for that, because our
website is simply misleading.

So, we should either provide two lists (one for the latest release, and
one for current CVS), or at least make it clear on the page that it
doesn't apply to the latest release.

As for providing two lists: we could even do this, we modify the
compatibility to have more percentage columns: one for each major
release we had. So there'd be a 0.2.0, 0.3.0 and 0.4.0 column. Would
also make it very nice to see how the compatibility changed over time.

Cheers,

Max
