[Scummvm-devel] Wow it's the second biggest PS2 I've ever seen!!!

Hi guys!

I'm just too sad to see my PS2 devkit at work just rendering tons of
polygons in an action game :)
So I'd like to try to do a PS2 backend to make nice bootable CDs with our
beloved 2D adventure games (mainly for the geeky coolness factor, of course)

The main problem is the legal stuff. I think I'm not supposed to include
Sony headers, and link to Sony libs and so on and release stuff without
going through the Sony approval.
BUT...
There are those amateur dev kits sold, mainly in Japan, Net Yaroze 2 I
guess, and I think you can release what you develop with it.
Does someone here knows this stuff and know if the libs and tool chain are
the same than on the dev kits?

Else I'll ask Sony directly from work, I might have the luck to have a
community-friendly response... But I'm not that sure... They might be put
off by the GPL (despite they were quite happy to use GCC for their toolchain
:) )

I found a open ps2sdk on ps2dev.org but I'm not that sure either about the
legal issues. I'm just sure it will be more tedious than using the official
stuff, but if it is the price to pay...

Sorry if I sound a bit lazy, but before bothering, I considered asking your
advice because I'm sure I'm not the first one to have such an idea... and
maybe you already had a negative answer.
I checked the forums but didn't find any related discussion.

Cheers!
Bertrand

BTW : If we are not given the authorisation, I hope SOMEONE ANONYMOUS
SOMEWHERE on the net won't release an illegal CD ISO just like the one I am
considering ;)
