[Scummvm-devel] Doing a new port?

I remember asking about this a while back, but it seems that the ScummVM
architecture has changed a lot since then and it's probably worth asking again.

I'm interested in doing a port for an embedded OS called intent. Where's a
good place to look for documentation on how to do this?

One of the features intent has is a really, really good audio engine. It's got
a multi-channel sound mixer, with ogg and MIDI support built in, for example.
I'd really like to be able to use that, and not ScummVM's own built in one,
for code size, speed and flexibility reasons. Is this at all possible? If so, how?

I *am* debating trying to port SDL first; this would be useful for other
projects besides ScummVM, but will add to the overall code size. Can anyone
comment on the pros and cons of using SDL versus a real native port?

Any information you can give me would be gratefully appreciated...
