Two more things, folks:
1) If you think this is a good idea -- please state so, on the list.
Even if it's just a one-line mail "yeah, go for it". Same if you
dislike the idea. As I am not willing to put *any* further effort
into this if nobody cares about it anyway (and yeah I realize that
not much time has passed since my original mail. I'll be happy to
wait some more days. But next monday is the start of the one-week
application phase, keep that in mind).
2) Now, if we want to proceed with this, we must prepare an
application. Details can be found on <http://code.google.com/support/
bin/answer.py?answer=60303&topic=10727&ctx=sibling>. Maybe we should
create a Wiki page for that, too, on which we, together write this
application. Does that make sense?
Some things we need for the application::
* We need a web page (on the Wiki? listing our project ideas/
proposals (maybe taking my previous email as a starting point). Any
volunteers to get this started?
* We need to mentors (with Google Accounts). We need to tell them how
we selected them, too etc. -- A mentor should be prepared to spend
some time with the students. In particular, help them get along with
the rest of the team, guide them in their work etc. -- that said, all
team member are allowed to (and encouraged to) interact with all of
them, of course.
Anybody interested in acting as a mentor, possibly restricted to a
specific task/project?
* Questions 14-17 need to be answered: How will we deal with
disappearing students / mentors; how to get students to interact with
the rest of the team and the community? How to ensure that these
people stay interested even after the SoC?
Once more: I'd really really appreciate *any* kind of reactions *on
the list* to this. If none come, i.e. if interest in this is so low
that nobody can even be bothered to write a single line reply -- then
I'll not waste either your nor mine time by blathering on about this
anymore.
Bye,
Max
