I thought that could already be turned on/off the same way 
subtitles/speech is turned on/off in other games, plus there's some 
hotkey for it that I can't be bothered to look up at the moment. (I 
think it's in the README.)

It also affects Flight of the Amazon Queen (I don't know what the story 
behind that intro is), but is it an enhancement or just a curiosity? 
Either way, I don't think something like that should ever be enabled by 
default.
