Consistency first, that's what matters. AE is decided upon, so AE it is.

Incidentally, -ize vs -ise isn't actually an Americanism, according to the
OED. Both are correct in British English (and the OED lists them under
-ize).

I always spell things -ize (and when people call me a yank or similar, I
