I hate to say it but I have to fall on the side of keeping code 'in tree' if
said code is manageable and making the judgement call when it becomes
unmanageable and is better served with libraries. I am not devote on either
side mind you.
I know this is a really hard line to draw and we could all spend the next
few weeks painting this bike shed but for small embedded platforms (NDS
springs to mind for instance) the less libraries that are drawn in to build
ScummVM and play the core games the better (and I find it hard to call Sword
2.5 a core engine yet, and it's not currently running that well on low end
embedded platforms ;)).
ScummVM is continually growing both in the core and engines and this is one
of the projects core strengths but we may need to take a pragmatic view to
things like this and not rush to radically change the status quo on this
without some fallout analysis.
Anyway, just my 2 pence and I'll crawl back under my rock now.
