I can only comment on "The Dig". For there aren't any "real" variants. Well, there is the demo version, which *is* flagged as such. And there are different localizations. But distinguishing those actually required an extra hack to the detector, as the base files are identical across all versions. Oh yeah, there seems to be a hacked up russian translation which is the only version to actually modify one of the *.LA? files -- no idea why it does that though.
And we could distinguish the Mac version by the fact that all its data files are put into a single archive file; but these files then in turn are again identical to those in the PC version.

However, all these versions behave exactly the same, as they have identical scripts, so there seems no point to distinguish them further.
