The repo looks like it already was rebased by the author into a linear set of
commits on top of svn-r43068 with several "fixes for scummvm update"-type
commits in between(*). It would theoretically be possible to research which
scummvm revision the code was based on at what times, I suppose, but I'm not
sure if anybody actually wants to attempt that.
So your concerns about uncompilable historical commits are likely valid, but
David's approach is a faithful reproduction of the directly available history.
