I am fully aware that we talked about MPEG2 code being useful for RtZ Mac. I can even give you a quote:

Considering the content, and looking at the date, and considering that this email came 7 months after we discussed dropping MPEG2 support for the first time (in January 2009) I figured it makes no sense to wait another 2 years for RtZ Mac support to manifest -- or not.
Besides, the code was written for the overlay anyway -- heck, it even contained support for non-existent 8bit backends! It also predates the VideoDecoder API. So if you really need MPEG2 support, you would have to rewrite it anyway.
