Hi everybody,
First of all, I'd like to apologize for this late answer. Max announcement
was a real shock for me, and I didn't consider I was able to write something
intelligible yesterday.
My name was mentioned at the beginning of this discussion, I feel honored of
course, and I'd like to thank the people who consider I may be a good
candidate. Now I'm also lucid, and I share the opinion of the team members
who consider I'm not the right person: technically, I'm not good enough,
that's pretty obvious, for a technical role. So I'd like to repeat to Sven,
Matthew, Alyssa, and whoever may think I'm vexed by something: no worries, I
knew :)
I have the feeling that currently the team is expecting someone to replace
Max. My opinion is that it's impossible: if nobody is irreplaceable, it's
also almost impossible to find one person to perfectly replace someone
else... specially in that case. Also, I won't mention names here, I told to
Eugene my preferences, and to the person concerned too. As Johannes told,
time and peaceful reflection are absolutely mandatory before someone
volunteer, and giving names may not help.
Now, concerning the points listed by Eugene, I'd like to volunteer for some
non-technical tasks, if he feels useful to delegate some of those, described
as (a) (b) and (c). As I already told in my introduction letter, my current
job is IT manager, and I have been team leader or project manager for a
decade or so, so I may be helpful. I also must admit I won't spend more time
on ScummVM than I'm currently doing, as I already spend all my free time
(and even a bit more), but I'll do my best if Eugene delegates things to me.
Don't misunderstood my objectives: I'm usually humble, and I'm not begging
for a shiny co-leader title. I just want to help in this difficult period we
are living.
I wish good luck to the future candidates currently considering to
volunteer!
Best regards,
Arnaud
