[Scummvm-devel] inclusion of scummvm into the Zodiac client

Hello scummvm people,
I write as client programmer for the Zodiac digital delivery platform
(http://www.zodiac-store.com).
We included scummvm into our software client distribution, so I'm
posting a message here (as adviced on #scummvm some time ago) to be
sure that we
 - have done nothing against the license
 - have included scummvm in a way that doesn't make anyone here unhappy

Let's go to the relevant info:
 - your latest scummvm win32 binary distribution, extracted and
unaltered (license files etc), has been included under a
"extras\scummvm" subdirectory of the client installation folder. Of
course the plan is to always include the latest scummvm in future
releases (this should be the advantage of not packaging scummvm with
the specific games, as done elsewhere)
 - we package the games with a config file, and giving the user, from
the Zodiac GUI, the option to change some basic settings or to open
the config file for edit. The "Play" button launches scummvm straight
into the game, using the config file.
 - in the "about box", I added a "powered by ScummVM"

Some screenshots to give you the idea:

BASS launched from an unreleased Linux build of the client:

We'd like to package the freely redistributable scummvm games in the
near future, after checking the individual licences.
The software is written in QT, so it's easily portable (in fact, i
already tested a Linux build, and in that case the client runs the
"system" scummvm, but I think it's better to provide a "ready to go"
solution for Windows user). Hopefully, someday, public and supported
versions for Linux and Mac will be available.

If someone is interested in trying the software/checking the scummvm
integration, here's the download link:

http://client.zodiac-store.com/ZodiacSetup.exe
(no-install version available too: http://client.zodiac-store.com/Zodiac.zip)

I made a test account so you don't have to subscribe to try it, and I
included BASS (not available yet through the site) to the account:
username (shown as "e-mail address" in the client, 'cause normally
that's the username) and password are both "scummvm".

Thanks for your time (and for scummvm, of course! :-) )

Bye,

Dario Scarpa
