Dear developers of ScummVM and ResidualVM,

Greetings! I am the student with the name "Douglas_GSoC" that got accepted
to join the development of ResidualVM. Sorry for such a late email, for the
reason that I need some time to finish some of my end-term projects. Now I
finally have the time to formally introduce myself, and here it goes:

I am a Chinese coming from Guangzhou, Mainland. I am a current year 3
computer science student at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. My
Chinese name is Liu Zhaosong and in case you are interested, in simplified
Chinese character it is "刘兆松", but you can call me Douglas for convenience.
I have changed my displayed name on GSoC website to Douglas Liu so really,
you can call me however you like, I am okay with anything :)

I am so happy that I got accepted in this year's GSoC as a participant of
the development of ResidualVM. I have been highly interested in game
programming and development for a very long while. I have been longing for
a chance to experience actual game programming, and now I get it, and I am
excited about it! For this year's GSoC I am going to implement the menus
and shadow features of the Stark engine to support the game *The Longest
Journey*. Although they are not big parts of the engine, I believe I shall
have valuable experience through this glimpse of the architecture of a real
game engine. Besides, I get the chance (or challenge, I should say?) to
learn knowledge of OpenGL and computer graphics, which I have always
believe a must for game developers to learn. I am really looking forward to
the coming three months of GSoC and I am ready to have a busy yet wonderful
time.

Due to the timezone (I am in Hong Kong now), I think it may be hard for me
to keep staying on the IRC channel and chat with you guys. But I promise I
will check it through the log frequently. If you see a guy with the name
"DouglasLiu" logging on and off, that will no doubt be me :D

Right now I have come up some plans to better prepare myself for the coding
period. I have created my blog through Blogger (
https://douglasingsoc.blogspot.hk). I have forked the repository of
ResidualVM in the application period and my Github account is
DouglasLiuGamer. I have purchased the OpenGL Superbible for my reference
and future learning material, and the book is on its way. I am soon going
to further read the codebase and I plan to start working as soon as
possible.

Last but lot least, I want to express my biggest gratitude to my mentor
Bastien, a.k.a bgK. He has given me tremendous help when I was applying for
GSoC. I believe with my heart that we are going to have a wonderful and
memorable time together.

Wish all the best to all developers!

Sincerely,
Liu Zhaosong (Douglas)

p.s. Recently I am playing the game *Pyre* from Supergiant Games. It is
magnificent and now Supergiant Games is now officially my No.1
favourite indie game studio! I highly recommend it to everyone! Along with
the other two games from Supergiant: *Bastion* and *Transistor*. They are
really all masterpieces!
