[Scummvm-devel] GSoC - Call for mentors

Hi Arnaud,

With motivation slowly coming back I might accept to mentor a backend or GUI related task. I am a bit on the fence regarding the TTS task. I can mentor it, and it has attracted some interest every year since we have listed the task, but we have not had a single good enough proposal (it seems to attract developers with limited skills). Maybe a miracle will happen though. I would prefer not to mentor an engine related task this year, but being one of the few developers familiar with the supernova engine I might accept to co-mentor one on that engine if there is a good candidates and if I am not interested in any go the GUI or backend proposals we receive.

And I am happy for you and dreammaster to decide whether to add the immortal task or not. I don't want to mentor it, but if you have other mentors for it I don't see why it could not be added.

Google made some nice documentation about their summer of code, so I prefer to link to it directly : https://google.github.io/gsocguides/mentor/what-makes-a-good-mentor <https://google.github.io/gsocguides/mentor/what-makes-a-good-mentor>

It wasn't successful last year but it's now publicly known that we have the sources available. Any comment about it is welcome too.

It would be convenient that the people involved (E.J., Pawel, Joost) tell if they are available and eventually work on the text to make it more appealing (maybe some screenshots would help too?)

It would be nice if some people could either take the co-responsability of a task so it may happen. In any cases, new ideas are very welcome as the ones currently proposed are sometimes old and may not be sexy for students. If you have ideas not related to a game engine and are willing to discuss about it, please start a new thread on -devel as it will be more convenient to keep track of the discussions this way.
