If I'm not mistaken, the following approach should work perfectly fine:

Right before tagging 2.1.0, I'll copy over all the .po files from the
master branch to branch-2-1 and immediately run the update_translation
makefiles afterwards to fix the line counts and re-build the .po files
and the translations.dat agains 2.1.0's codebase.

What do you think about this?
