[scummvm-devel] ScummVM 2.8.0 Release Status: Start of the release

Hi Team,
Just as discussed over the Discord, we are starting today the 2.8.0 release
preps.
The release schedule is looking like this:
- Nov 19, Sun: release cycle starts. List of bugs to fix announced
- Nov 26, Sun: code freeze on master. Only bugfixes and ports are
allowed. Public testing announced
- Dec 3, Sun: branch, master unfrozen. Backport only bugfixes/ports are
allowed on the branch. Weblate switched to the branch, and call for all
translators and porters.
- Dec 15, Friday, tagging. The builds are being collected.
- Dec 30, Saturday: Release
With this e-mail, I am announcing the START OF THE RELEASE CYCLE. Please,
minimise bigger changes, but still work normally.
Next milestone is in a week, the code freeze on master. That will mean that
only bugfixes to the supported engines will be allowed. For those new to
the project, the unsupported engines and ports are not frozen, and you will
be able continue development as normal there, though I'd like to ask you to
help with the bugfixes.
The release scope is as follows. This list is incomplete, just to our taste
(kudos to somaen for doing the bulk of the work for scoping the release
this time). Thus, feel free to squash a bug or two that are not on the
list. Some games in the list could be obsolete or not reproducible, please
feel free to close them. I will send the regular release progress e-mails.
