"title": "ScummVM 2026.4.0 \"Never-slop\" is released on the 25th anniversary",
"content": "It is hard to believe, but a quarter-century and a couple of days ago, the ScummVM Project saw its first public commit by Ludvig Strigeus aka ludde.\n\nSo many things have changed, and we continue to follow our new release cadence. Without further ado, let's discuss what is coming with the 2026.4.0 release.\n\nFirst of all, we have a _huge_ number of newly added and enhanced engines:\n\n## Newly Supported Games:\n * _Mortadelo y Filemón: Una Aventura de Cine Edición Original_\n * _Mortadelo y Filemón: Dos vaqueros chapuceros_\n * _Mortadelo y Filemón: Terror, Espanto y Pavor_\n * _Mortadelo y Filemón: La Sexta Secta_\n * _Mortadelo y Filemón: Operación Moscú_\n * _Mortadelo y Filemón: El Escarabajo de Cleopatra_\n * _Mortadelo y Filemón: La Banda de Corvino_\n * _Mortadelo y Filemón: Balones y Patadones_\n * _Mortadelo y Filemón: Mamelucos a la Romana_\n * _Dracula: Resurrection_\n * _Dracula 2: The Last Sanctuary_\n * _Amerzone: The Explorer's Legacy_\n * _The Cameron Files: The Secret at Loch Ness_\n * _The Messenger / Louvre: The Final Curse_\n * _Nancy Drew: The Secret of Shadow Ranch_\n * _Nancy Drew: Curse of Blackmoor Manor_\n * _Nancy Drew: Secret of the Old Clock_\n * _Nancy Drew: Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon_\n * _Nancy Drew: Danger by Design_\n * _Nancy Drew: The Creature of Kapu Cave_\n * _Chamber of the Sci-Mutant Priestess_\n * _Star Wars: Rebel Assault_\n * _Star Wars: Rebel Assault II: The Hidden Empire_\n * _Dragonsphere_\n * _Return of the Phantom_\n * _Once Upon a Forest_\n * _Alpha Polaris_\n * _Art of Murder: FBI Confidential_\n * _Barrow Hill - The Dark Path_\n * _Dark Fall: Lost Souls_\n * _Devil In The Capital_\n * _Dirty Split_\n * _Face Noir_\n * _Ghost in the Sheet_\n * _Hamlet_\n * _The Lost Crown - A Ghost-Hunting Adventure_\n * _Murder In Tehran's Alleys 2016_\n * _Murder In Tehran's Alleys 1933_\n * _Reversion series_\n * _Rhiannon: Curse of the Four Branches_\n * _Shadows on the Vatican series_\n * _other Wintermute engine games, over 140 titles_\n * _Der Schatz im Silbersee (Treasure of the Silver Lake)_\n * _The Fool's Errand_\n * _Harvester_\n * _Lord Avalot d'Argent_\n * _Dungeon Master_\n * _Eagle Eye Mysteries_\n * _Eagle Eye Mysteries in London_\n\nIf I count correctly, there are 194 newly supported games and 12 new engines!\n\n## General enhancements\n\nWe made some improvements to our Event Recorder, sped up sound mixing by using a faster OPL3 AdLib sound chip emulator, and added support for yet another installer type, so it is easier to run the games without the requirement of running their original installer.\n\n## Engine bugfixes and improvements\n\nSeventeen engines were enhanced and improved. _Sanitarium_ got walking sounds fixed; _Another World_ now has better compatibility with big-endian systems; the GLK engine got support for some ZX Spectrum games. We finally completed the _Hopkins_ engine by implementing its shooter mini-game (based on a small engine similar to Wolfenstein 3D). Kyra engine got automap in EOB games, and Korean fan translations of _Legend of Kyrandia_ are now supported. A long-standing bug with pathfinding in _Lure of the Tempress_ has been fixed. Also, we fixed a handful of bugs in _Riddle of Master Lu_; it makes it not an easy task, since all the game logic is hardcoded and not in scripts. _Might and Magic_ got several facelifts, crash fixes, and small QoL improvements. Nancy engine is on the roll, and we fixed bugs in already supported games, on top of six announced in this release. Even the SCUMM engine got its C64 and early Windows HE titles compatibility improved. We added MT-32 support to the TsAGE engine, and fixed deadlocks in the V-Cruise engine games.\n\n## Port improvements\n\nAtari port got optional integration with the nFM sound library.\n\nThe complete and comprehensive changelog can be found in the [release notes](https://downloads.scummvm.org/frs/scummvm/2026.4.0/ReleaseNotes.html).\n\nThe port builds will follow shortly; for now, you can enjoy the Windows, macOS (including PPC!), Dreamcast, Haiku and OpenDingux releases."

+ "title": "Urgent Priority 1, You Are Ordered to Proceed to the Colony",
+ "content": "The ScummVM Team is pleased to announce that The Colony is ready for public testing!\nYou are a Space Marshal responding to a distress call from the remote colony Delta 5-5. Something has gone terribly wrong. Before you can reach the planet, your ship is caught by a gravity well and crash-lands, leaving you stranded with a damaged vessel and a very simple problem: find out what happened to the colonists and find a way home.\n\nExplore the colony in real-time 3D, moving through its corridors, laboratories, offices, homes, and other facilities as you search for clues. Read the colonists' notes, journals, books, and computer records to piece together what happened, while solving puzzles and dealing with the alien creatures that now roam the colony. You'll need to restore your ship's reactor, and if you can manage it, rescue the children who were placed in cryogenic chambers before the colony was overrun.\n\n_The Colony_ was an unusually ambitious game for 1988. Rather than presenting a collection of pre-rendered views, its engine allowed you to move freely through a continuously rendered 3D environment. You can explore on foot, enter vehicles, manipulate objects, and interact with a world that feels remarkably expansive considering that the original Macintosh version fits on a single floppy disk. The game combines exploration, logical puzzles, and combat, with much of the story hidden in the remnants left behind by the colonists.\n\nCreated by David Alan Smith and published by Mindscape, The Colony was one of the earliest games to combine a freely navigable first-person 3D environment with adventure-game exploration and puzzle solving. It went on to receive Macworld's Best Adventure Game of the Year award in 1988, and its technology would later form the basis for Smith's Virtus WalkThrough 3D environment.\n\nFor this testing period, ScummVM supports The Colony releases for Macintosh and DOS. As usual, you will need the original game data files to play, so either grab your old floppies or get a free copy of the game from [ZOOM Platform](https://www.zoom-platform.com/product/the-colony?affiliate=c049516c-9c4c-42d6-8649-92ed870e8b53). Please report any problems you encounter on our issue tracker, following our bug submission guidelines. Screenshots and saved games demonstrating an issue are always helpful.\n\nDelta 5-5 closing transmission."
