Summary: TALKIE: Non-Subtitles Text Lost
Initial Comment:
When a talkie game is played with subtitles turned off,
the text which is not spoken (Credits, "LEC Presents",
etc.) does not appear. Only certain phrases don't
appear, and they are the same phrases each time. This
is most easily seen in DOTTDEMO, just play it once
with subititles up until "Day of the Tentacle" is
displayed, then play it again without. It is
missing "Lucasarts Entertainment Company Presents".
This also occurs on the credits at the end of the demo,
and on the full version for the beginning and end credits.
I think it can also be found in other talkie games, but I
have not tested this extensively. This has occurred in
previous versions too, but I cannot say for how long. I
think that it is a script error, because text is displayed
with different commands, such as "print_actor_msg()"
and "print_0_msg()", and all of these functions are
hidden with "nosubtitles=true" or "-n".
