Initial Comment:
I know it is possible to prtscr and then paste it into an 

art program and then save it.... but! It would be SOOOO 

great to be able to press F12 (for example) and have a 

screenshot saved in .gif, .png or even .bmp format 

automatically!



That would be such a cool feature, please consider it.

In the current CVS snapshot, the SDL backend can create BMP

screenshot with Alt-s, but it's not yet documented, provides

very little feedback to the user, and puts the screenshot in

the current directory, which probably isn't ideal behaviour.

I guess if we add something like this, it'd be in a simple format 

like .bmp (.png or .gif would require us to use external libs, which 

sounds like overkill for such a simple feature).
