Initial Comment:
In the attached save, wait a few seconds.  The space
police will show up and charge into the lab.  As the
screen scrolls past Purple Tentacle, you'll see a weird
leftover artifact of his sprite on the left-hand side
of the screen.  (Screenshot + saved attached.)

(More generally, I was encountering a number of
unreproducible fleeting graphical glitches as I was
playing the game; this is the only one I could reliably
reproduce.  Hopefully, if this one gets fixed, the rest
will be nailed in the process.)
