This has been observed while playing The legend of Kyrandia (French version) in ScummVM 9.1 (Mac OS X - Universal) running on an Intel Mac (OS X 10.4.8) and can be reproduced systematically.

When opening a open (or save) menu and clicking the "down" arrow twice, the following assertion is triggered:
engines/kyra/screen.cpp:563: failed assertion `x1 > 0 && y1 > 0'

Looks like the couterpart of bug 1480746.
