Comment:

 Yes, the game does these sorts of allocations all over the place
 throughout its lifetime, though whether or not this is so is not really
 relevant here since the game is crashing already ''on startup''. :)

 We do have code for creating memory pools, Common::MemoryPool. I’m happy
 to accept a patch to use MemoryPool where necessary in this engine, though
 unless this shows up in other platforms it’s not something that I plan on
 spending time working on and so won’t be addressed for the next release.
