 The behavior in scummvm is the same as the original engine.

 Mechanical Age: The blue page has a heavy green tint
 Stoneage: Both pages look like a checker board with their color and the
 color white. Most notable for the blue page. Limited palette?

 More noticeable in scummvm because original resolution can be scaled.
