Comment:

 Thank you for your bug report.
 I confirmed that I was able to reproduce the bug on macOS, and I suspect
 it was also happening on Linux, and other ports using the POSIX file
 system code. The "~" was expanded to the home directory path, but not in
 all cases. The issue has now been fixed.
