New description:

 Some plugins are built with exception unwind tables when compiling for the
 DS, which prevents them from being loaded.

 This affects the following engines:
 * access
 * cine
 * dm
 * gob
 * illusions
 * lab
 * mutationofjb
 * sci
 * supernova
 * ~~tinsel~~ (doesn't seem to be affected any more)

 I'm not sure why exceptions are generated in the first place, since
 ScummVM is built with '-fno-exceptions' on most platforms.
