 In the German version of Ultima VIII the umlauts / eszett (ä, ö, ü, ß) are
 missing from onscreen texts and are replaced by a simple space character
 (see the attached example screenshot - "wei " should be "weiß", "da "
 should be "daß", "K rper" should be "Körper", "r tselhaft" should be
 "rätselhaft").
