 Hello. I just started the game and I'm at the same point. from what I have
 been able to observe, this title does not have direct interactions between
 the environment and the inventory. Instead, having a certain item in
 inventory provides new dialog options for carrying out an action. In this
 case, having the cookie in inventory gave you the "feed" dialog option
 when you interact with the dog normally.
