 I'm getting the impression that the game is telling Drew to do a talk
 animation, but that it won't play since there's already a walk animation
 going on. Somehow. I don't know why, because I think it looks like it's
 playing at least one animation after the walk.

 The Character::playAnim() function already calls stopSpecialAnim(). If I
 also make it call stopWalk(), that seems to work around the problem. Note
 that I'm ''not'' saying that this is the correct fix. But it ''might'' be
 a clue.
