 Ok, I've expanded the comment a bit. Hopefully correctly.

 Is the speed (1, 2, etc.) you're talking about the same thing as ScummVM's
 WM_VAR_TIME_DELAY? Because at least judging by the calls to
 AgiEngine::setVar(), that does get set to 1 during the initial animation,
 but to 2 when the story part of the intro (with the text boxes) begins.
