 Ahah, it's only the gameplay. :) But this part is indeed tricky.

 Here's an hint (stop reading here if you don't want any help !) :

 - There is a repeated action that will make Woodruff cry. Then another
 action will cause a character to appear that will cheer him up, and the
 game will continue.
