A couple of clarifying questions:
1. What mode are you playing on? Action or puzzle?
2. Did you reach this level/state via gameplay or did you use the cheat
system?
3. Do you know what is supposed to happen if you shoot the chicken? Is it
a dead-end scenario?(there is a puzzle-y way to deal with the chicken)
I have the Linux 1.0 version of the game. I can reproduce the issue when
loading your saved game.
I am not very familiar with the game or its controls though (I have never
played it far enough). Is there a key toggle to make the guy stop/start
shooting gems?
For the record, via cheats, this is the "Map 10" to warp to, but it starts
you without gems -- and I don't know if there's a cheat command to get
gems.
I do have a potential fix, but I've spotted a few more issues while
playing and ideally I'd like to address those as well. And with my fix,
the chicken is just gone after you shoot it with a gem, and there's no
apparent way to get it back to retrieve the item you need from it. Maybe
it should respawn or this would be a "try again" type of case, or there's
an alternate "action" solution to the puzzle that I haven't found so far.
Also for the record, some of the other issues I've hit are:
- Sometimes, the character gets stuck moving in one direction and keeps
going automatically no matter if you try to stop him (...). This seemingly
does not reset even if you start a new game. I had to go back to launcher
and relaunch the game to fix it.
- When a speech text bubble is too long, the text seems to be abruptly cut
(truncated) after a character limit, and so probably the character limit
should be expanded.
- The ambient sounds in this level play way to frequently, resulting in an
annoying cacophony which presumably is not how it sounded with the
original game engine.
