 I tried this again with the latest git code (ebda265) and it still works
 here, both the Windows and the Mac version. I also tried the latest
 nightly (c24beadf), and that also works.

 I should perhaps mention that I have extracted the CD-ROM files with
 dumper-companion.py, and am running the game from my SSD. How are you
 running it?

 It is possible that you have a corrupted file.
