 I can't reproduce the crash when loading the games from the SE "launcher",
 but I can't enable a sanitizer right now so maybe I've just been lucky.
 On the other hand, I always get the assertion on quit (even with the fix
 proposed in the PR) so there's probably something else that should be
 addressed.

 Anyway, it's really not recommended to use the SE "launcher" to play the
 episodes, because that way the saves share the same filenames but they are
 not interchangeable (and the autosaves will overwrite each other)
