 Interesting. Perhaps the problem is related to me starting with old saved
 games (from ScummVM circa 2020). I just started the game from scratch and
 the F5, F7, and F9 do work. I haven't gotten to the ship yet to test
 Ctrl-n.

 I was starting with old saved games to avoid the copy protection. But it
 looks like that is now somehow being skipped by the newer ScummVM.
