 @erik: Thanks for looking into this, and for that gfx.cpp debug fix! I
 hope to be able to look into this in a couple of weeks.

 Anyway I was played the Japanese TG16 release of Loom again, today. From
 scratch, on the iOS 2.9.0 release.

 I never used the ‘room’ debugger command, but I did open the debugger to
 remember the ‘drafts’ stuff.

 With this setup, I still see the masking issues I've reported above. I'm
 attaching updated screenshots for proper details.
