#15919: HOYLE1: MT-32 Emulation has significant right-side audio balance bias

Reporter: Yoshi348 | Owner: (none)
Type: defect | Status: new
Priority: normal | Component: Audio: MT32
Version: | Keywords: MT-32, Stereo, SCI
Game: Hoyle's Book of Games 1 |
------------------------------------+--------------------------------
Windows 11 Home, 24H2, 26100.3915.
Using MT-32 Emulation, the music is noticeably panned too far to the
right. It's not completely right-only or anything, but it's very
noticable. Running the game in dosbox-staging (0.82) using MT-32 settings
does not have this issue. Though I have limited access to other games
right now, this issue does appear in sci:christmas1990 as well.
A notable aspect of this is when using the current stable build (2.9.0),
this issue applies to Ad-Lib emulation as well! However, running the daily
(2.10.0git14681-g8f5500d05be) fixes this issue, but not the MT-32 one.
I've been swapping between the two builds' versions of scummvm and
winsparkle.dll using the same config to test; there's some notable
differences in volume as well but that's probably known/intentional. An
important adjunct to this is that the stable build does NOT have this
issue with scumm:pass in Ad-Lib, just the two SCI games I tested. I
unfortunately do not know of an MT-32 supporting non-SCI demo or other
free game to test here.
