Comment:

 The main issues of the original post in this ticket ("cannot enter
 password" and "rogue extra character in the password prompt field") should
 now both be resolved in the development builds (2.10.0git)

 Pertinent commits are:

 The fix for the extra character in the prompt should have made it for the
 upcoming 2.9.1 bugfix release, but for actually entering the password in
 that release, the user will have to use the suggested workaround above
 (changing the key assigned to "Return" from the keymapper for the game).

 As for the other issues, I'm (casually) looking at them while playing the
 game, and have committed a few fixes already, while others require yet a
 bit more investigation and work.

 I've yet to play through the entire game with ScummVM. So, it's possible
 that more issue will come up while playing. (Currently, there's a palette
 corruption issue that I thought I dealt with, but its root cause is a bit
 more complex than I originally thought).

 Anyway, I'm marking this ticket as fixed (in developer 2.10.0git builds).
