Comment (by nikocxx6464):
Honestly, using the android back button is a better route than a seperate
button, but its mainly because i use duckstation alot and dont use
gestures (i use 3 button mode because i couldn't get used to gesture mode)
so i use the "menu" button it has instead of pulling up and pressing back.
as for the "first time message" idea, most users will probably click ok as
soon as they open the app for mysterious reasons (this isnt a joke, i
genuinely dont know why they do that) so i doubt many people will be
reading it, maybe a tutorial when you first open a game would be better?
(though, non first time users might be annoyed that they have to go
through it again to start playing)
as for keyboard button idea, after a bit of thought i'd rather just remove
it all together and add a button called "Open keyboard" on the perfectly
good ScummVM pause menu (since pausing ScummVM pauses the game, it
shouldn't be much of a problem, and i doubt it would waste a lot of time
since you already have to hold the button and risk pressing the pause
button by accident), and also add a "Open Game Menu" button on the same
menu which, on games like Grim Fandango would open the game menu, and
also, for better UX, id make the save button in the pause menu open the
game save menu on Grim Fandango and other games that require saving using
the in game menu instead of saying "please use the in game menu ok thx bye
bye" (though the last 2 are engine level issues)
also, why the heck is there not a "use system keyboard" button in the
settings? i use Hacker's Keyboard as my main keyboard which has perfectly
good CTRL, ESC, ALT and SHIFT keys so i shouldn't be forced to use the
ScummVM one that looks like its from android 4 and is way too short for me
and feels very cramped and uncomfortable to use.
and lastly, i mean, thats why feature suggestions exist, right? if you go
to feature suggestions for an open source app it probably means you dont
know how to code, have a phone and dont wanna pay for Acode (though you
can setup a PRoot-Distro Container with termux and run VSCode, but most
people dont know how to do that, the controls suck and the performance is
not good™) or are just lazy.
