 Since this change, as I said looks, legitimately correct, I would like you
 to bring it over as a PR. This way you can retain ownership of this
 change.

 As for Maniac Mansion, it would probably be a good idea to test it
 briefly. But I trust this change overall (why would it advance by two
 bytes otherwise?).
