#16733: ACCESS: Martian Memorandum - Adlib Music Volume Broken

Type: defect | Status: new
Priority: normal | Component: Engine: Access
Version: | Keywords: Access, Martian, Memorandum, Adlib,
Game: Martian | Volume

-------------------------+-------------------------------------------------
**ScummVM Version**: Tested `ScummVM 2026.2.1git25327-g717e3a4185b`, as
well as release versions `2026.1.0` and `2026.2.0`
**Game Language**: English
**Game Version**: DOS
**Host OS**: Windows 11 `25H2 (26200.8246)`
**Steps To Reproduce**:
1. Simply load the game with the default Adlib audio setup (no MT-32,
etc.)
2. Note how the intro music is almost inaudibly quiet, but the drum
channels (which start during the intro text and continue in your office)
are loud. This continues for at least the beginning of the game (office,
Terracorp, Alexis' house - I haven't played further)
3. Use the ScummVM volume settings for the game, and try to turn the music
up or down - note how it doesn't have any impact on the music/drum volume.
"SFX volume" slider does work (e.g., does impact the volume of Tex's
footsteps)
I'm attaching two MP3s, one recorded from ScummVM, and one recorded from
Dosbox - you can hear that while the drums (towards the end of the
recordings) are the same volume in both, the music (towards the start of
the recordings) is of normal volume in Dosbox and almost inaudible in
ScummVM. Plus as I say, ScummVM music volume slider does nothing.
